WW1 exhibition opening at the Thackray Museum, Leeds

On Wednesday I was asked to photograph the opening of a new world war one exhibition at the Thackray Museum in Leeds. I was there to photograph the V.I.P guests, one of which included Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry. On 1 May 2004 in Iraq, Beharry was driving a Warrior Tracked Armoured Vehicle that was hit by multiple rocket propelled grenades. The platoon commander, the vehicle’s gunner and a number of other soldiers in the vehicle were injured. Beharry was forced to open his hatch to steer his vehicle, exposing his face and head to withering small arms fire. Beharry drove the crippled Warrior through the ambush, taking his own crew and leading five other Warriors to safety. He then extracted his wounded comrades from the vehicle, all the time exposed to further enemy fire. For these heroic actions Johnson was awarded the Victoria Cross. I met a truly inspirational bunch of people who have all fought for our country, here are some photographs from the day AYP_1911 copy AYP_1947 copy AYP_1949 copy AYP_1954 copyFind out more about the Thackray Museum here

Phillip Stoner The Jeweller

I was recently commissioned to photograph the two Leeds branches of the jewellers Phillip Stoner. They have recently opened a new branch in the Trinity centre and I was asked to photograph the new store and the existing one in the Victoria Quarter. The two stores are completely different in look but carry the brands theme throughout both: simple stylish and elegant. This made my job much easier! The Trinity centre store is modern and simple both inside and out with lots of glass and splashes of purple whereas the Victoria Quarter store is much more traditional on the outside but carries on a stylish modern look on the inside with the same splashes of purple which instantly became the focal point to many of my interior shots.   Visit The Phillip Stoner website to find out more: phillipstoner.com   Heres a few Photographs from the shoot: 002 011 032 046 121 126 146 210 216 victoria quarter copy
